So it’s been a really crazy week.
The week started off a little hard for me because on Tuesday I found out that I was going to be moved to a new area. This was a hard thing for me because I truly learned to love the people of Las Palmas. So Tuesday night was hard realizing that this is probably the last time I will ever see some of these people again.
Wednesday was the day of changes. I went to the change meeting and found out that I am going to S. It’s still part of the Managua zone but is super different. It’s not like Las Palmas at all. It’s a lot of cobblestone and some areas are a little remote. On Saturday we went to an area in S that reminded me of hiking in the mountains behind our house. I think I’m really going to love this area. It is pretty cool to be in a new area, but right now it’s far from easy here.
My new comp is Elder M. I don’t think that we could be anymore different. So far I have been able to find similarities between my comps but this kid is so different from me. His personality and work ethic are so different from mine. It’s weird to have a new comp. But I just need to keep in mind that this is not going to last forever and that we are here to invite others to come unto Christ.
The area is a little hard right now because I came into the area basically having no investigators. It’s a little hard but this just means that I need to work that much harder to find new people.
Hope you all have a great week and I love you all so much.
Mom – I have been thinking of you so much. Sounds like everything you knew about Nica is now different…wow! Big changes. You got this!
How far from the main city (Managua) are you? Which direction… east/west/north/south? Where are you living?
A – I am kind of far from the city maybe a 30 min bus ride but dont know what direction
Mom – Wow! I am sure it is tough having a comp that you don’t see much in common with. You have a good perspective, which will make all the difference! Where is your comp from? How long has he been serving?
Anything I can do for you?
A – El salvador same time as me in nica
no but my package came but i havent opened it yet
Mom – Sounds like your comp needs some fire lit under him. I am sure there is a reason you are with him. Pres Russell recognizes that you have great leadership and personal skills. I am proud of your willingness to serve, even when it is hard.
What package came? The one in the padded white envelope?
A – ya padded
Mom – You should open it! It may be just the thing you need…(a tshirt from your closet)!
Where are you emailing from? Do you know much about the Christmas Day phone call? If you have the option to Skype?
A – ok i will
no havent heard anything yet
Mom – Are you still emailing from the church or are you at an Internet cafe?
So, how remote are you? What would you compare your new area to? How big is the ward?
A – internet
not super remote but there are some really remote spots our area is pretty big
1000 plus members but only 130 attend
Mom – Glad we can communicate! It makes me happy.
Abbi was thrilled to get your email! Thank you!
Sounds like a big area to cover, with a lot of re-activation potential. How many missionaries are in your area?
A – only us 2
Mom – Lots of work ahead!
How was Elder C about leaving for home? Was it sad to say goodbye?
A – ya it was a little hard to say goodbye. but the only constant in this 2 years is change
Mom – That’s for sure. As long as you can remember why you are there, you will have the best experience possible.
What are your living conditions like? Running water? Flushing toilets? Kitchen? Sleeping? Bugs? Etc?
A – everything is pretty normal. we have two rooms. one is for sleep and studying and bathing. the other is for storage because there are bats.
Mom – Bats are fun! Are they inside? Or just in general?
What did you do for pday today?
A – ya they are inside. but only in that other room
I have to go now so have a great week and love you tons
tell abbi to feel better
Mom – I will for sure! She wants to know if you knew that Ben Stiller and Jerry Stiller are son/father…she can’t quite get over it.
Love you SO much! Send pics if you can. Have a great week!!!
A – dont have pic now but next week
Haha that is awesome. love you
